Have a coolant leak on my D1 so I brought it to the dealer (I have an extended warranty). Service advisor tells me they did not detect any coolant leaks after pressure testing. So I am here to ask the more intelligent one's (meaning discoweb people), where the hell is the coolant coming from?

Could it be coming from your over flow bottle cause your put a little too much in there and now it is getting hot and the excess is coming out? Just a thought..

fill the reservoir to the seam (about 1/2 full), not the top.

it's been a year since my radiator was flushed, so at this point i'm guessing no. but what side is the over flow on? the coolant is dripping from the driver's side, right where all the cooling hoses come together. thanks for the response Eric.

yes, it' always been at the 1/2 mark...I always check the coolant level every few weeks. I haven't added in a while either.

clean and then check couplings. Of course, if it passed the pressure test......something ain't right. Pressure test will probably fail as soon as your extended warranty runs out...LOL

I had a similar problem with when I had my rad changed , there was a bit of coolant that had leaked onto several parts of the motor , as engine coolant does not evaporate it dripped off the engine and "appeared " as though there was still a leak. Did you have your vehicle at the shop recently , is it possible someone may have " topped up" your coolant with out your knowledge and spilled some on your engine ? just a thought.

Screw the pressure test! Tell them to leave a piece of cardboard under the truck over night since they don't believe you.

they do make die injection kits just for this, buy the kit (they're fairly affordable and can be used to check a variety of systems) inject the die and let it run as normal. when you detect a leak again, shine a light that comes with the kit and voila. it's the easiest way to find small leaks.

Well, I do have the disco back and viola! no more leak!?! Maybe the mechanic found a loose hose and just didn't report it. Thanks for all the suggestions.

It's remarkable how prevalent the mysteries of LR ownership are shared! My 95 Disco will leave a pubble under the center of the bell housing two days in a row of clear slightly oily fluid that evaporates slowly. No stain so it's not oil. It's not the tank regularly although I did bring it up from empty to half way to make sure I wasn't low. Only work this year is power steering so it's not shop damage. Strange but true.
