sorry if tis is a double post, I posted hours ago and still haven't seen my post.

I bought a land rover original parts dash foglight switch for my 99 disco II ( part number STC 50098 )
and it has 5 pins on the back. does anyone know how to wire this switch? it will be going to my Hella lights.

Scott- it should be the same pin out as all the other 5-pin switches. See the tech/lighting section on this site. It's got a couple different how to's which talk about wiring up the hella's with LR switches. There's also a how to on www.disco2.com, which tells what the pinout is.

I just did a foglights setup and hooked into the rear fog switch. I clipped into the pin5 wire (output to the relay) and it works. I got a different foglight switch (YUG102620), which only works in the top/left or bottom/right binacle locations, due to the extra plastic on the top. I plan on using it to have separate controls for front vs. rear fogs - it will have to go into the lower/right location.

Is your part # for the middle binnacle locations? Also, is it momentary or does it click into the "on" position like the cruise control?

Good luck! I hope this helps.

hi,
Does anyone know about testbook? How to be enable the front fog light?
I just installed my front factory fog light in bumper (with relay, switch YUG102620). My installation is ok, but the instruction said I should be enable fog light by testbook or dealer; and now my fog light is still not working.
Scott, about the switch YUG102620, I did put on the top left location. For switch rear fog, like you said, it has the extra plastic on the top of switch, I did cut by knife this section and put in the next location under switch front fog light. It's perfect.

There appears to be an important difference in switches.

The OEM Factory fog light switch on my 00' D2 is the a MOMENTARY switch. Not an ON/OFF switch. It must be pressed each time you restart the vehicle to activate th fog lights. As such, it requires some sort of special OEM switching electronics to allow the OEM fog light relay to be activated. This may be why you need the dealership to "activate" the circuit with the Testbook. Then I imagine you can plug you Hella fogs into the factory sockets and you are set (maybe).

The only modification I would make to this setup is to "power" you switch circuit from the same circuit that powers your rear foglights. That way, your fron foglights will stay on with your high beams (instead of only with your low beams.

NOW A QUESTION ABOUT ADDING DRIVING LIGHTS

I bought anuxillary light switch from my dealer (STC 50098) to use for the Hella 4000 euro beam driving lights that I plan to install.
However, this switch is also MOMENTARY. It has a little light icon that has straight lines coming out of it (unlikethe downward/wavy lines on my OEM foglight switch) and a little number "2" in the light symbol.

Like Thinh, my question is how do I make this work with aftermarket driving lights? Is there another socket or circuit on the D2 that allows for this, and were can I tap into it?

Does this setup also need to be "activated" by the dealer testbook?

If so, I may just get a true ON/OFF switch (eg rear fog light switch) to work this on my D2...it has to be cheaper than hooking up a testbook at the dealership.

Thanks to anyone with insight into this

Rich

The switch commentary seems to be to get a cruise control switch and swap the face plate from the fog switch to the cruise switch. Then you'll have the right icon, but the swithc is On/Off and not the "momentary" type.

I put the YUG102620 is the position below the cruise swithc (just upside-down), but haven't gotten it to work. I may have to suck it up and get a cruise switch.

BTW- the pinouts for the fog switches are different from the cruise switches, so pay attention to the tech section here (cruise switch pinout) vs. on www.disco2.com (fog switches).

PS: I clipped my relay input for my fogs into the pin 5 (output) from the rear fog switch and it worked nicely. I'm working on the 2nd switch so I can control my front fogs separately from the rear.
