I am replacing the stock 4.0 with an RPI 4.6 short block. (cracked block) Who out here in discoland has a 4.6 and what kind of performance numbers can I expect. I am also rechipping it with the chips needed to keep me from cracking the block again, and more hp's, I have a very heavy foot and get very bad mpg's. That's why it cracks the block behind the cylinder walls. (Read RPI website for more info on this) Help me out guys and gals. thanks |

Just by reading the specs, the 4.6 is 15% larger. A 4.0 has 182 HP while a 4.6 has 217. RPI has special cams to tweek both torque and hp. Did they not tell you what to expect, especially with a rechip. That stuff does not come cheap. Are you heavy with your foot for torque or speed? These engines are pretty hearty. If your heavy on the gas for the passing lane maybe you need a BMW X5 rather than a lumbering disco. |
