Hello, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a write up in regards to the removal of the front headlights on the series 1 Discovery, or could offer me any tips. I looked at it and it looks simple to remove, but i'd rather know FOR SURE how to do it before I attempt it. Thanks in advance! Nate |

Having just replaced the headlamp bulb on my '96 D1, I can say that the removal proceedure is very simple... Once you know how. The removal is also diagramed (poorly) in the owners manual. If you want to completely remove the headleamp housing do the following. 1. Locate the three locking toggles around the headlamp. On the leaft hand side there were two on top and one on the outside bottom. You find them by looking under the hood, through the large hole above the headlamp. 2. Pull the toggle out toward the rear and rotate it so the toggle will slide through the long slot. I recall this is less than 45 degrees. Do this to all three toggles. This will loosen the headlamp from the body. 3. Pull back the rubber boot, and unplug the bulb from the wire harness. The headlamp, complete with attached bulb should now be free. If you have a brushbar, you may have to remove that to completely free the light unit. One caution, the toggles look like they could break if forced. Who knows what LR would charge for such a 10-cent part. |

Nate - it's not that tough actually - just pull and the three ball/socket clips pop apart. They are tough and won't break - I've had my lights in/out many times with no problems. Then unplug connector and remove headlamp Bill |

Awesome guys, it was a lot simpler then I expected. Here's why I needed to know. www.imthedevil.net/uppics/nonzrelated/discob41.jpg www.imthedevil.net/uppics/nonzrelated/discob42.jpg www.imthedevil.net/uppics/nonzrelated/discoaf1.jpg www.imthedevil.net/uppics/nonzrelated/discoaf2.jpg Theyre was just a wee bit too much yellow before for my liking, so I changed the bulbs to streetglow superwhite/blue bulbs. I think the bluish headlights with the yellow fogs make a nice contrast. Thansk for your help guys! Nate |
