I saw that Discount Rovers had one for $150. I also saw that some guy was selling them on CDROM on e-bay for about $35. What are you guys using? I'd rather have a 'paper' manual anyway, but don't really want to pay $150. I'll probably find that it is unavoidable in the years to come, though. -John F   Carter Simcoe (Carter) Posted on Saturday, November 09, 2002 - 07:00 pm:    Its quite simple to make a paper manual from a CD manual, all you need is one of these new contraptions you can find a places like NASA called a "printer" -just messing with you. Seriously though I think the CD manuals are actually better, you can print only out the pages you need for a job and throw them away when you are done without having to worry about tearing them or getting them so dirty you cant read it.   John Moore (Jmoore) Posted on Saturday, November 09, 2002 - 07:22 pm:    Carter, thanks for the advice on the printer thingy... I'll run $35.00 bucks by him and see how he feels about it. Need to find out what vehicles are covered on disk he has. Also will have him try it first to make sure it will work. What a concept. Really, though, I can keep a book for ever - I've got a shop manual for my Datsun Roadster I've had for over 20 years. CD's I tend to lose over time, and I've never had a PC or laptop for over 2 years at a stretch. That said, the CD is much cheaper (I think?) so where can I get one? None of the manuals that he said were on it were actually there. The only thing it really had were the inspection checklists for the U.K. If somebody wants it, e-mail me and I send it for free. - Todd M.   curquieta Posted on Monday, November 11, 2002 - 12:00 am:    Hi Everybody, I've provided free copies of any rover manual on CD for awhile. The truth is, I had to borrow the source disc from somebody and I've been comp'ing the postage cd, etc, and frankly, it's getting expensive. So here's the deal. I'll mail anybody a copy of the CD (which includes manauls for the Range Rover, DI, DII, Freelander, and Defender.) $30 bux and I'll cover the CD, the postage, and the time to make it, going to the post office, and a "providers fee" to the provider so he keeps passing along the stuff we need to keep our Rovers running, and just a little for me. If you think the price is too high and feel I'm profiteering, come back with what you think is reasonable and that'll be the new price. I'm not trying to get rich here. If the CD doesn't work, I'll buy it back. If you have already received a copy from me, let everyone else know if its working well. Sound off here if you want one and if enough people sound off, I'll get all the stuff to do it and provide an e-mail to get in touch with me so I can get one to you. Maybe I was high before (yeah, I wish), but haven't we had several discussions about these before? The first thing I got was the two-volume paper shop manual and it's been very useful already. The CD I have says 1996 Discovery Service Manual, v7.0, November 2000. The really funny part about it is that it says "Copyright 2000 LandRover" but it's a burnt CD (I would think LandRover would actually provide a pressed CD) and the label was printed with an ink jet CD Printer. It's got 28 sperate PDF's, total of 9.45MB, but about 75% of the files are "Uniform Inspection" manuals and the rest are manuals that I had already found on the web (transfer rebuild, engine rebuild, etc.) I've got the printed 95/98 MY manual, but I despretaly need a copy of the electrical manual with all of the wiring diagrams .... alas to my surprise it wasn't on the disk.   John Moore (Jmoore) Posted on Monday, November 11, 2002 - 07:53 am:    I would be interested in participating for $30 if the CD is acually the workshop manual. EXP   sg Posted on Monday, November 11, 2002 - 01:58 pm:    I bought one from guy on ebay - pleased so far even though I haven't had to use it yet. he said it doesn't contain any time stamps. It is for a DII yet the publishing date on the manual says 98. I guess the manual would have been completed before the release data of the DIIs. It comes in PDF format that is easy to seach and very detailed. Good diagrams. Please don't duplicate it. I need to keep passing the bux to the donator of the original so I can keep the updates flowing.
