If you hook up to the volkswagen harness, but you don't want to use the factory amp....because your system whines really bad - or you want to know how easy it is to do the 'rewire' --

Here are the instructions:

Unplug the wire that goes to your factory amp. On my '97 and my friend's '96 they were both under the passenger kick panel. Make sure you're using the Volkswagon adapter, and you've followed the instructions on this site to make sure you wire the deck up correctly.

On the plug under the dash, connect the following together to bypass the amp:

Right Front Speakers (+) = Green to Red/Black
Right Front Speakers (-) = Pink and Black
Left Front Speakers (+) = Yellow to Brown/Black
Left Front Speakers (-) = White/Black
Right Rear Speaker (+) = Red to Blue/Black
Right Rear Speaker (-) = Green/Black
Left Rear Speaker (+) = Blue to Yellow/Black
Left Rear Speaker (-) = Orange/Black

I haven't figured out how to make the speakers in the rear door work this way, as I'm going to buy a seperate amp to power them....they sound pretty good this way...

If you have any questions feel free to email me.

you can also just use the factory amp and add in ground isolators. And keep all speakers and sub working.

Would something like this from Crutchfield work?

RCA Ground Loop Noise Isolator (PAC SNI-1)

I have a Nakamichi MB-75 that I want to install. Had one place do it, but they said there was awful motor noise so I had them pull it. Other shops have given me quotes around $200 for the install! The problem appears to be with the sub amp. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

The ground isolators didn't work for me.

I bought mine from radio shack. $12-$19 a piece need two. They only work if you made sure you set up your Volkswagon adapter correctly. If memory serves me correctly. One of the set of speaker do not have a ground that goes to it it gets grounded from the amp. You have to ground it when you connect it to the ground loop isolators otherwise you will still get noise. If you were in Salt Lake I would do it for you free. Takes all of about 10 minutes to hook them up. Feel free to email me if you need additional info.
