Got into my truck today and the drivers window would go down and then stop about 1/4 of the way down and make a poping noise and not go down anymore. When I tried to put it up I could hear the motor but nothing was happening until I assisted the window by pulling it up unitl the motor caught it and did the rest. Does anyone have an idea as to what is wrong, I am going to pull the door panel this weekend but till then could use any advice. Thanks Matt |

Matt: There are a few things that can cuase this, primarily, it could be a bad regulator, but you won't really know until you get it torn apart. I say this as I found that my passenger window did the same thing and when I opened it up, I found that the motor had cammed its way out of the keyhole slots so far that it unplugged the wires! In this case, it was as simple as loosening the motor and repositioning it. If it is the regulator, they fail in at least two different ways. The most common is for the plastic rollers that ride in the channel that runs the glass break. But not to worry as many have ground the rivets out and replaced the plastic rollers with wheels from slding glass doors (believe it or not!). The other way they fail is that the teeth on the mating gear get wiped off-requiring complete replacement. Check the tech section for more info. Peace, Paul |

My rear driver's side window just got stuck this past week in the down position. I took the door apart and found that the wheel had broken in half and that the arm that comes off the regulator was frozen in the up position. I think I need a whole new regulator (and the $.80 wheel). My driver's and passenger's windows both "pop" when initially rolling down - sometimes the driver's binds entirely within the first inch of its descent. Is the regulator loose here? e |

How ironic. My D2's rear passenger-side window froze in the down position today. Only 26,000 miles and this makes the fifth problem I have encountered. What a POS. BW |

Fifth? I have 13 shop visits in 12 months/11,000 miles. One problem was the popping window described in the original post. They replaced all window (except glass) components to solve it. |

I didn't count all the driver-induced problems. Thirteen? Sheesh. What a POS. I guess when everything falls apart you can always feel rest assured that someone else has more parts to pick up than you. Good luck, Brian |
