Hello...I was wondering if there is anyone who knows of someone who works on rover's in Indianapolis, IN by the way I have a 95 Discovery. I absolute hate Tom Wood, they try to kill me, by cutting my brake line and hand tighting my lug nuts. And they also "hijacked" my car for 2 months to install a new transmission. Right, so if anyone knows of one could they possible drop me a line at [email protected].
Thanks!
Chris

Hi there, There is a little shop over on the east side of downtown that did a prebuy inspection on my 91 RR and they were recconded by a good shop here in bloomington. Shop in Indy is Spitzer 317-253-3331 on Brouse. They are in the phone book. If you are in the bloomington area or plan a trip somewhere for a day or two of driving let me know. I am trying to get introduced with some folks from the area. email me [email protected]

Good Luck
Mark

Well I do not live in Bloomington, I live on the North side of Indianapolis around the Carmel area, if you know where that would be. I occationally do go down to Bloomington to visit my sister at IU. I will not have my car for about 3 weeks, after a little offroad accident. But when I do get it back and go on a trip I will try to send you an e-mail.

Chris, let me know if you find any good shops. My sister has a '00 disco and she too hates Tom Woods. Funny, she also lives in Carmel, on Senator Way. Are you close by? I'll be there for christmas and want to take my sisters truck out for some off roading while I'm there. Let me know.

Howboucha Fellow Indy-Bloomington area Disco'ers!
I too hate Tom Wood, (or really just dislike). I had to use them once because I was at a meeting at the Conseco Conference Center and my 95 Disco wouldn't start. I had to tow it there to have a fuel pump replaced (after diagnosis of course).

It worked out best for me in the end, since I live in Clay City, which is about 80 miles away vs the 7 where it broke down.

Anyway, I work in Bloomington and use World Wide Auto to work on my Disco. Their phone number is: 812-339-9261. They are somewhat pricey, but I am happy with thier service. You want either Doug or Jimmy to work on it.

If any of you are interested in hooking up for a gravel-dirt road rally this Spring, let me know. I put on several Dual Sport events each year and want to do one for Rovers.

You can reach me by e-mail at [email protected] and if you get a chance, check out my website www.howboucha.com

Have you guys been up to the offroad trails in Attica? I forget the name of it - Badlands or something like that. I've been wondering how my completely stock Disco would handle the trails...

Yea I have been there once. I have a completely stock rover with a set of Dunlop Mud Rovers. I really did not have any trouble handling the trails, and when i did go I had the stock tires with very little tred left. As long as you stay on the easy trails you should have no trouble at all.

You guys must have gone to a completely different area at Badlands than I did! I have a lifted truck with tractor tires (32" BFG A/Ts), and a much needed front recovery point that got quite the workout last year at the Badlands.

After a harrowing drive through quicksand-like sand, a terrifying drive down a very steep hill following a 'mog, we then drove a 1/4 mile through a stream to a steep hill that only the Mog and JB's Rangie made it up unaided. This was just the approach to the quarry!

I guess it is all in who you are foolish enough to follow!

Peace,
Paul

BTW-I'm trying to open a shop in Fort Wayne... Time... and money.

Yes it does sound like you went to a totally different area I went into. By the way, were did you put the flag that you must have? I need to figure out a better place to put it then the sunroof thats half open.

Chris:
I attached my flag to the ladder on the back of the truck using hose clamps.

They claim you must have a flag that extends four feet over the top of your truck (on a lifted Disco?-we'd need a strobe if we were any closer to an airport), BUT, most of those I went with had much shorter flags and in one case, it did not clear the top of the truck...

I took my stock 97 Cherokee through the harder course at the Badlands. I punched the driver side rear door pretty hard when I layed it over on it's side. Wasn't pretty.

There will be a state owned facility opening up in June of 2003 near Dugger, IN. It is the Red Bird OHV facility. There is info about it on my website, www.howboucha.com

I have had the Disco there, but had more fun with my Pinzguaer.

Okay, I will try the image again. If it doesn't work, and you want to see it click on this link:
It's a shot of my Pinzgauer at Red Bird over on it's side. It's in full lock, all wheels are moving and so is the Pinzi. It scared the crap out of me, but made for a great photo.

Well the next time I go up there in January I will explore some more. Farther back then I was. And if anyone else has an idea of where to put that flag (I don't have a ladder :( ) that would be awesome. Brendan I like the picture. Wow that would be quite scary!! Hope all did turn out well!

Badlands is a great place for stock Disco's, but the trails put scratches(can be buffed out).
Check out Attica in trails section up top and
Alen babayan and Tom pearson section on the photo gallery.
Let me know next time if anyone is going to Attica.
Cheers
Alen
P.S Howboucha Brendan next time im coming to RedBird
