How do you do this, what do you need to buy,
Would a muffler shop do this, and what would you need to tell them,

I've seen more people with this setup
how much would this cost

Hi,

For those wondering, the pictures of the Tdi DII on the ship are of the Swiss Land Rover Club presidents' vehicle being loaded for his journey to the US. He is currently touring the US for a year in his DII. If you see a red diesel DII out west, go talk to him, he's a pretty cool dude, and he's probably doing what most of us dream of.

There is a thread with the instructions onhow i did the exhaust thing. I stole the idea from Greg Davis. It took me an hour to do and cost $75 including the exhaust re-route and the diamond plate.

As for too many tires, (no such animal). Ever try to get two AT's in Nicaragua--lessons learned the hard way. :)

Great job on the exhaust exit. But how about that roof on the red Rover? Custom I assume?

The roof rack on the Red Rover is custom made. It was built over two weeks with common hand tools and a welding machine in a garage.

It has nothing exotic and the tent is a plain old tent you could by anywhere with a re-inforced floor to mount it to the rack.

The inside back area also has self-made custom shelving, etc.

Chris, where did you get the black molding that goes around the tail pipe exit? Great job on the mod.

Hi,

the molding is door edge strip--pep Boys--about 4 dollars.

I removed that when I put on the diamond plate. Remember, the tail pipe expands when its hot so you need to make enough clearance behind the pipe for that.
