My sunroof has given me problems since 3 months after I purchased my Disco. At first I could just push it up and down when it was closing and it would close. That was fine with me but now it won't do that. For about 2 months I've been only able to crack it because when it fully opens it won't shut. The left arm with that little peg on it that goes through that track, not the big track but the one that locks it in place and guides it back down, won't shut it, the right arm tries to go but the left one won't go past the first hump in the track on the way to shutting. It moves up about 2 cm and stops, even when i lift up and nothing is in its way it still stops. Does anyone know why, anything will be of help because that is one reason why i got the particular rover that I have is because it had the dual sunroofs. The one in the back works fine. Any diaghrams , stories of what you've done anything will be of help. Oh yeah the title, lol, we need to form "THE SOLUTION" to fix this problem and engineer something to fix this and to keep it from defecting down the road. |

The guide rail assm sounds like it may be your problem. These parts are fairly cheap if your can do the labor yourself. This problem was addressed during operation pride on the Disco I with a different guide rail assm. Will have to drop headliner and remove sunroof for repair. Everything is straight forward and the only worry to have is that the motor is timed but it should not be a problem if the roof is shut when you start. |

Its called buying them without sunroofs. Even the new rails suck. Close them and pull the fuse.

I must be lucky. My sunroofs don't leak, don't stick, and don't rattle (closed). But they rattle like hell when they're open. Is there a solution to this? |

Hi Rattlesnake, Remove the glass, enjoy the quiet and get a suntan. After rain you can use the opening as a diving board! |

blake there is a sunroof refrofit from the dealer but if you are out of warranty - then it might be alot of $$. the s/roofs are not made by land rover. they are made by 'webasto hollandia' they also sell aftermarket. you can buy an entire NEW s/roof and install one with much better results. they also make a huge slider 24"x39" that would be really nice. you can also buy a simple pop top and make it a manual roof. remove the panel for when you wheel. another option is to get a custom fabric or rag top folder made. your options are only limited by your courage to cut into the roof of your car and your imagination!! steve |
