My rear door (95 Disco) has a locking problem. It will not lock automatically, I have to unlock using the key. Upon closer inspection, it seems the actuator was "jerking". I replaced with a new actuator, and had the same problem. I noticed that the actuater then, seemed to be working in reverse (moving upwards when locking, and downwards when unlocking) however, its movement was not far enough to lock the door. I then cut the wires and spliced them in backwards (the wiring harness is made so that they cant be accidentally switched) so the actuator works in reverse (the way it's supposed to) Then I made a linking rod out of a coat hanger thats a little longer than the original, and now the door locks and unlocks like it should. Now I have an extended length rod and an actuator wired in reverse in order for the door to work. Sorry for the long post, but does anyone know why this is happening? |
