Okay, I can't find the fuel pump relay on my 1997 Discovery. I've tried the Haynes manual, and can't find it in either of the two locations suggested. My local Rover dealer can't even tell me with certainty where it is (they suggested one of four locations). Nothing I see looks like the silver Bosch relay I have, which is supposed to a direct OEM replacement. Any suggestions? |

I had the same problem with my 96 Disco SD. Both my work shop manual and Rovers north told me where to look and what color is. All of my relays are either yellow or green. There is a main relay in under the bonnet near the fluid washer tank. Called the main relay. When I was having problems with the fuel system, I had to replace that. To this day I have not found the "so called fuel relay" that is supposed to be.. Good luck |

When you turn on, but dont crank it, the pump relay should come in, and then stop about 3-4 seconds later. It is quite audible from the drivers seat, if things are quiet. Start listening, and when you know which group it is in, locate it by touching each relay as you turn ign on, and you should feel the drop out when it stops. jp |

My 96 is a Pre Advanced Evaps. On that beast, the Fuel Pump Relay is part of what the Workshop Manual calls a Relay Module. It houses both the Main Relay and the Fuel Pump Relay. There are 2 Multi Plugs attached to the bottom. It's mounted on the passenger side of the engine compartment, on the fender wall (parallel)with a simple clip, forward of the ECM. Not sure what year they went to Advanced Evaps, but when they did, they moved the Relay Module closer to the ECM, between the Evap Canister and the Windshield Washer Reservoir, mounted on a more elaborate bracket, perpendicular to the fender wall. Hope this helps. |
