A few months back I purchased a 97 SE7. While performing routine maintenance this past weekend, I disconnected the battery to clean up some minor corrosion arount the cables. As I'm sure everyone but me knew, this causes the radio to die. (And I had RTFM but skipped the radio section thinking what could I possibly learn there). Anyway the five digit security code I have matches what L/R says it should be but still no tunes. They think the radio may have been replaced with another oem unit even though they have no record of such service under warranty (Sounds strange to me but the gal on the phone swears it happens all the time).

L/R says if I pull the radio and get the serial number for them, they can give me the proper code.

Anyone else been through this? Is there a better way? Advice on removing the radio?

Thanks for any help with this.

Al

Easy, happened to me.
I just loosened the screws (small holes on each side of the radio face) slid the radio out and copied the numbers. After e-mailing to LRNA, i was sent the response.

Mike, thanks for the info (it was as simple as you said).

Hmm, if anyone can just email LRNA for the radio code based on radio serial number, doesn't that kinda defeat the value of having security codes?

Just wondering...

Final update - Called in serial number and got a call back within ten minutes with the proper code. Radio now works.

I'm still not sure why someone would replace the original unit with another oem AFTER the warranty expired but it appears that may be the case here.

Thanks to Mike M. for the response to my original plea.
