Has anyone put on PIAA Plasma Bulbs, Nokya HID bulbs lights on their DII? Would like to hear about it and if the look fake or decent? I have thinking about putting some on. DII's carry H4 bulbs correct? |

Yes James, the D2 takes the H4 type bulb. I did not go with the PIAA Plasmas. However, I just intalled a set of Hella H4+50% PN 78151, in the Pig. I was looking for a brighter white light. The thing to remember James is once you do install the aftermarket bulbs, take the time to aim your light as to not blind any head on traffic. If you get the plasma, Post a pic. Paul '00 Pig |

Try installing a relay-I've found that brightens my lights w/out change of bulbs. (Although I have installed some H4 50/100 watters since and have nice bright lights and don't worry about that high wattage pulling through my light switch, etc.) |

I have added some plasma bulbs to my DII and it looks great. Brightens up the road alot and it looks fine not fake or stupid. Be carefull on which ones you get though. Go with the plasma ones without question. These are the brightest and regular HID looks fake (well they are...not HID). I got mine off EBay but it is easy to get ripped off. If you want to know who I got mine from email me or repost, I will let you know, he was really good. One bulb blew the minute I put it in and he sent me a replacement free. I also recommend re aiming your lights. They throw light different and they could be to low or to high so take some time to do this ust right for you. |

I was part of a discussion on the Rovers North BB a while back and took a lot of heat over my experience with the PIAAs. First, let me state that my observations are based on two vehicles both using E-Code lights and alternators of approximately the same strength. In my Series I have been using Cibie lenses with Sylvania 55/100 H-4 bulbs. In my Range Rover I have Hellas with the PIAA Xtreme White 55/65 bulbs. The PIAAs claim to put out as much light as a conventional 120/130 bulb. On the Rovers North BB I stated that while I didn't feel that the PIAAs were quite that strong, I did perceive them as being as bright if not a little brighter that the Sylvania 55/100s. The quality of the light is superior to that of the Sylvania and after recently swapping the PIAAs with the Sylvanias I can say conclusively that the PIAAs are a better bulb. In the Cibies the depth and spread was laughably superior to the Sylvanias. Now, keep in mind that the PIAAs list for around $85 so they are not cheap but I do think they are worth it. Another issue that was mentioned on the RNBB was longeviety of the PIAAs and all I can say is I have put over 18,000 miles on the RR in the year since installing them and have encountered no problems. I don't know how well the other "plasma" bulbs that are available perform but when my Series resto is finished I'm getting another pair of PIAAs. |

Thanks for all the input. I will probably decide next weekend on a pair. PIAA's are nice, if I go that route. I am indecisive between the plasma blue's (5,000k) or the xtreme white's (4150K). The nokya's (5,000k) are only $30 and I have had them on my Jeep for about two years and still running strong. We will see though. But I also have a Hella Lamp Assembly that reflects the light pretty nice. |

I run PIAA Xtreme White bulbs in the mains as well as in the fogs of my 98 LSE and I have enjoyed them. They are much better than stock. E |

My PIAA Platinums had been used for 2 years and no problem. I haven't changed my aims since then. NObody seems to care. Well, on desert night speed runs, theyre great. I shooked them, wet them, no electrical problem whatso, it works. Make sure PIAA pays you back for this ad, NOT jk!!! Make sure its H4's. |
