I should be a matter of changing the wire to the fog light relay from low to high beam. I did that on my 88 Range Rover becase I installed driving lights in the air dam. Just curious, why would you want to do this in the D2. I would imagine the stock lamps are designed for a low short light pattern for fog. What would would be the benefit of this type of light pattern with high beams? Are you also changing the lamps? For your subtopic regarding driving lights there are several useful wiring diagrams in the tech section. Let me know if I can help. -John |

Mark, This is an option that is programed and can be changed by the dealer. It is an option turned on and off in the on board computer along with a few other options like automatic locking doors etc... The dealer should do this for no charge!! |

Eric, I just installed the factory fog lamps on my disco II SD. I need to enable them at dealer. Are you sure the dealer do this for no charge? (unless we buy this from dealer)... |

"The dealer should do this for no charge!!" They should, but I was charged $68. That isn't that much money, but you would think that after all of the money I have sent their way that they would take care of something that didn't require any parts and probably took them 5min to do. |

Thinh Thai, I would just go in and be really nice and tell them you just found out about this really cool option on you really great Disco and wanted to know if they could do this for you. Don't mention price untill the convesation goes alittle further. If you did not buy from them they might charge but ask if charging is really necessary becasue your heard this is a simple hook up to the computer and choose options kinda thing. I guess I am trying to say shmoos them alittle but don't let them control the situation. If it works great, if not, them it's up to you to if you want to pay for it. I would just becasue there are some cool options you can have turned on the most people do not know about like: doors lock automaticly at 5 mph headlight stay on 20 sec after you lock the door so you can see at night superlocking (ON/OFF) Fog lights stay on if brights are engaged and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head! |

Check out this link on www.disco2.com http://www.disco2.com/tech/bodyelec/security.phtml#volumetricsensors It list several items that can be programed by the dealer. It's a geat site for d2 owners. Good luck, -John |

John in 2000 Land Rover disconntinued this feature in on all vehicles. My understanding is it was a problem becasue it was setting the alarm off all the time. I have a 2000 DII and it does not have this and was not an option. They also no longer include the superlocking feature as this is also a problem for passangers getting stuck in the car and not being able to open the doors even from the inside. Mine has the superlocking but they no longer make any Land Rovers with these functions. |

Eric, do you mean LR disconntined the custom programming or just specific features? I am getting a 99D2, and would like to program specific functions. I agree the superlocking feature does seem problematic. I can see my wife screaming at me from inside... Maybe this would be useful. LOL! -John |

John, You can still have things programmed, that is not the issue. On the more recent vehicles coming from the LR plant, they do not have the superlocking installed and it is not available. I was told that with the 2 recent recalls with DII's (idle pully and ABS ECU upgrade) that with the ECU upgrade came the ability for the shops to disable the superlocking feature. I specificlly told my shop to install the ABS upgrade but not disable superlocking as I don't have a problem with it, and they complied. You should have no problem! |
