Anyone installed an aftermarket temperature gauge? I would like to install a more accurate / sensitive gauge, and need advice / recommendations on from experience. Thanks, Tom |

Check out Perrone's site: Spanish Trail Rovers. This is for an for a RRC, but should be similar for a disco. http://www.spanishtrailrovers.com/Tech/Mods/Adding_Gauges/adding_gauges.html |

Tom, I noticed in your profile you had low rider Yakima mounts. Do you like them? I am about to mount 1A high rise towers to fit my mega warrior that I used to use on my rangie. Check my profile. That also is a sweet bumper, where did you get it? -John Also, I came close to installing Autometer guages in my RRC before I sold it. I bought the guages off e-bay, but never got around to installing them. Maybe, I will use them in my new D2. I ended up buying the smaller 1&1/2 size guages and couldn't find a good location to mount them. Autometer does not make cups that size. It does not make sense that an english rig does not have a proper oil guage. LOL. I too would think with an aluminum block you would want a good temp guage too. Let me know what you do. |

John, The mounts worked good on the factory rails. I have taken them off, and I plan on putting the rack on my RRC. How do you like the mega warrior? Is it worth the money, or would you get a full aftermarket rack (arb, etc.) Tom |

The Mega Warrior has worked great for me. As noted above I bought it for my 88RRC. You can use any type of Yakima mount, holder, etc. It comes off very easily. In addition to my RRC, I used it on my wife's Rodeo and on the roof bars of my Pop Up Camper. I bought it for around $300, so it was comparitively inexpensive. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a rack. You can also get extensions that make it 60"s long. It's obviously not as cool as the arb or LR adventure rack, but much less $$$. -John |

I thought of another question about installing an aftermarket water temp gauge. Can you put in place of the current sensor and not use the temp stock gauge in the rover? Or might this cause problems with the automatic fan, etc and require the use of T to run both? Does the same go for the oil pressure gauge? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom |

Tom, You can use a "T" junction to keep the stock temp gauge if you want, or you can just bypass it. As for the oil pressure, I just tapped the blanking plug. Piece of cake. -P |
