I'm looking to change the filter on my transmission and wondered if there is a prefered filter/service kit to get?
I see this on ebay:

Seems like a good deal.

Shane-

The one on ebay looks like an Elring (German) trans filter kit. The only concern I would have is that they send you one for an LR ZF 4HP22 kit and not a BMW ZF 4HP22 one (they are similiar looking but are not interchangeable). It seems kinda ridiculous to bid on something between $26-29. My concern is getting the wrong one and having to deal with returns, hassles, etc.

Go to www.gprparts.com. Click on "other autos" section at top of page and on to "Rover's" and follow the sections for your vehicle and trans part. They have a kit for your trans for $28.55 that is definitely for Rover. They also have an 800 number for phone orders. If you are out of California it's shipping only-no sales tax.

Good luck-

thanks Greg,
that's what I needed to know.
Is there a specific brand of kit/filter that is reccomended and/or better than the others?

I haven't run across any crappy quality filters in my experience but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. I've only used a "Mark" brand name (reboxed OEM?), genuine, and worldpac (reboxed OEM?) which is what GPR sells. That Elring on the website is a quality filter (OEM supplier) as I've used their prods many times in Porsche/Audi/VW/BMW's. I just don't know if it's for Rovers for sure no matter what they say and it's a pain returning mail order stuff.
