Define reasonable in $ terms
What tires you looked at so far?
Have you checked a NTW or local similar operation for their options?

Recently put a set of 255/65 16 Pirelli Scorpion ST on my 96, purchased from TireRack for 104 ea., Nice combo tread, quiet on the highway.

If you're looking for something to offroad, anything is better than the stock Michelins, and probably less expensive. The Pirelli Scorpions are a good choice for mostly road use/occasional light offroad. For a more 50/50 split BFG ATs are a good choice.

Yeah, tirerack.com has 235/70-16 Michelin Cross Terrain for $84 or Pirelli Scorpion S/T for $86. Both good on the street, just don't take 'em off-road.
