I was checking the u-joints on my front drive shaft on my '89 RRC. I got slight movement when shaking up and down, side to side, and rotating the shaft. The play came from the output shaft, not the u-joints. Is this ok? It is a Borg Warner. Thanks, Will Bobbitt [email protected] |

Will: The thing to look at closely is the sliding joint. It can fail in one of two ways, either seizing or conversely, wearing badly and becoming sloppy. If your play is limited to the transfer case, you can have worn output shaft bearings. It isn't that uncommon in high mileage vehicles. How many miles does your truck have, and when were the universal joints changed last? Paul |
