I dont offroad much, not near like you guys do. Can I put 265/75-16 on my disco 1 without a lift. I plan on getting a lift in the future when the money rooollls in. THe tires were free. I am willing to cut and make the adjustments for the tires

Nope, unless you plan on doing ALOT of cutting. That's just too much tire for a non-lifted DI.

thats true 245/75's are almost to much for a non lifted DI ,but they fit

I was kind of hoping to do the same thing...
put 265/75's on and get the lift a little later.

Would it not work even for street driving where there's not really any compression happening?

I but 245/65 r16 BFGs on my Disco 2. Thats about as big as you can get. I have a half inch clearance in frount fender with wheel hard over. No rubbing at any time but not much room for anything bigger.

There is a guy on the tech page(cutting fenders), he has 235 85-16, which are the same height but a little narrower. THey work on his car?

exactly, they are narrower and he still had to do A LOT of trimming.

Jesse,

believe me, they won't fit. They will rub and fuck up your rear quarter panels when you drive over the speed bump at the parking lot.

but why not to lift? to lift a Disco-1 2" is about a cheapest lift on any truck I know, and you can do it in less than three hours (if you have never done it before)

How much did it cost?

WHat if I did 1"spring spacers on the rear, and 1.5 on the front. Would that be enough?

BD and Jesse,

you can have approx. 2" lift using OME HD springs all around (751 front, 762 rear). Don't know the exact cost, Expedition Exchange has them in stock and you can order them in matched lengths. My guess would be about $60 per corner. You can upgrade the shocks later.

Also, watch the ads - many people go taller and ditch their OME sets for a fraction of the price.
