What options for windscreen are out there for roof racks. I have an adventure roof rack without lights. I do a quite a lot of highway driving and could really use some kind of screen to cut down on the noise on the road trips. |

Its got a floor but it's not solid, it's expanded metal which helped a little but not a lot. |

I heard that alot of the sound comes from the mounting holes (if any) for the lights. Try pluging those holes with a bolt or something and see what happens. I virtualy eliminated my noise problem when I installed lights. |

I would be more inclined to believe that happened because the lights are breaking up the airflow and not because those tiny holes are plugged but still that is a good suggestion and it would also give you the added benefit of more lighting. If you decide to go the deflector route though they sell that tinted lexon stuff (or whatever it is) at Lowe/Home Depot the last time I checked -it would definitely be cheaper than buying the Yakima one and you could cut it exactly the way you want. |

Acually, it was the holes I was speaking of. There was a thread a while back asking the same question and someone replied with an option of covering the holes because he did so with electrical tape and the noise was almost gone. This was on an adventure rack though, but worth a try. Again don't know if it works, thought I would just throw it out. |
