If you put on lockers plan on replacing your rear axles. Stock ones are weak and will break. Then if you are going to install lockers you may just want to replace the R&P to 4.10 to make up for the bigger tires and since they will have your diff. apart. Only if $$$ grew on trees.

I am assuming you are talking about the Enzo Ferrari I read somewhere there is only going to be 200 or 300 made at a small price $600,000+ and the factory is hand picking the new owners.

MTB,

How many 24 spline axles have you broken? And what lockers are you running?

actually money is made of cotton so it grows on bushes, luckily you are in the south so it should be plentiful :)

Perrone,
I broke a stock axle. Since I have had an ARB locker, I haven't broken a stock axle even with bigger tires.

so there isn't neccessarily a need for upgraded axles to install a detroit

with a detroit, i would go with HD axles...If you break an axle with a detroit, theres a good chance you will break the detroit too.

Perrone To answer your question to me "none" I do not have lockers though. So you may want to ask people how many axles were broke with lockers.
Your chances are much greater to break an axle with lockers so why not do it right instead of being sorry later.

and there you have it a locker question has degraded into the great "will I break less or more axles with lockers" debate

So now that the thread has turned to Texas Mud the answer to the question of lockers might lead to the question of just what you think your gonna do with your truck? Light wheeling? Hard wheeling In Mud? on Rock? In Moab? Gonna have to deal with snow?

MTB,

Ignore me why? I am currently running a mix of 10 spline front and 24 spline stock rear axles. I have a detroit in the back, and stock diff up front. I am running 34" tires.

I have not broken an axle, nor and I concerned about breaking an axle. I suppose if I had a very heavy right foot, or I spent a lot of time in the rocks, I might upgrade. However, I have known people to wheel for years (6+) with lockers and stock 24 spline axles with oversized tires, in the rocks and mud, and not break a thing.

I think it's just a matter of where you wheel and how you drive. But Blake has the answers to his question so I guess we can let all this just drop.

Perrone,

i broke a rear Dana 44 on the jeep (same GW category), with 33x12.5" tires. it is by far stronger than a stock rover axle.

speaking of driving style, i'm a low-rpm off-road driver.

In Florida, not much rock crawling going on and the majority of our surface we traverse gives, meaning sand, mud, shale, gravel etc... So living long with a Detriot and stocker axles in this terrain seems doable. Peter, I bet you were either rock climbing or had a heavy foot, right?

I just bought a 2002 disco, what type of axles does it have. THe dealer couldn't tell me. Actually , he told me they were Dana's, but I took a look today, and they look more like ford 9" or toyota style.

Mahn,

We can get Maxi-Drive lockers here too. Just not many people do because it's a rather expensive option in the states. I'll likely be installing one next winter for the front of my truck.
