Okay here it goes...........I have a 96 D1 with 100K. When accelerating quickly and when the RPM's go over about 1700 while driving it flutters and cuts in and out. It acts like it will die if I don't let off the gas. The only ENGINE CODE I pulled indicated LEFT BANK RICH. It has new cats from Summit Racing and a new Flowmaster muffler. BTW this problem existed prior to my replacing the clogged cats and old muffler. It will do 70+ MPH on the highway, but it does seem to run a little rough. I'm thinking 02 sensor(s).....anyone else? |

If you haven't replaced the front O2 sensors and you have 100,000 miles, replace them. Land Rover recommends replacing all four at 60,000 miles. |

The code was 1138 - Lack of H02S12 Switch - Sensor Indicates Rich. Anyone know where the best deal is on 02 sensors? |

Okay, I just ordered 2 new O2 Sensors from www.oxygensensors.com for $85 each with free shipping. I hope this does the trick. |

i have not had to replace my 95s o2 sensors yet,but working in a garage have replaced many o2 sensors.bosch has o2 sensors cheap, some require a plug swap or longer leads to plug in.might be worth a check.i will see if any cross over and post findings. |

Ok, I replaced the front 2 O2 sensors last week and my problem is still there. I assume they work fine because no new problems or codes have yet to arise. When my 96 D1 (100K) is idling it runs good, but when I increase the RPM's to around 2600-2700 is begins to stutter and cut in and out. Any ideas??? MAF?? The only code it throws is 1138 :"Lack of HO2S12 Switch - Sensor indicates rich". |

My 97 did the stall at 1800rpm thing repeatably and the MAF was found to be the culprit. This was replaced with a reconditioned unit ( half the price here in OZ ) but it has done the stall a couple of times since - approx 12 months - but not repeatable so may be something else. Borrow one for testing if you can. Bruce. |

Code 1138 Indicates Oxygen Sensor A D. This is Downstream of the Cat on bank A (Cylinder 1 side) Is this one of the O2 Sensors you replaced? -Mark |

Mark--No, I replaced the 2 O2 sensors in front of the cats. I assume, since no change in condition, I replaced 2 functioning O2 sensors. Perhaps I should replace the back 2 with my removed front 2.??? Is bank A driver side? --Tommy |

Yep. Try rear on the driver side first. |

Ok...it's not the O2 sensors. I guess it must be the MAF. If that's not it, I'm trading it in for an Aviator. |

I had the same problem about 4 months ago (throttle feels like it's fluttering or stuttering at around 2400-3000 rpm) and the check engine light was on as well. took it to the shop and yes they said it was faulty O2 sensors, I only had 75,000KM (about 50,000 miles?) on it.. they charged me 900 bucks for it and it's running fine ever since... and yes I remember the tech rep guy telling me something about the O2 sensors at the BACK of the cat or something..... and it was harder to replace than the ones at the front cause they gotta da dee da dee da (aka needs MORE $$$ to fix) anyways... hope you get it figured out and save yourself some $$$ |
