I just got my 1996 d1 and will use it as I have the last 5 4x4s... lots of highway but I use it off road in my business, and when I do I need it. I want to raise it about 1" or so I guess (a good compromise between the highway use and the road use) I have read lots of charts from suppliers but would like some input from people who have done it with info like handling on and off road, comfort and what you actually used and where you got it.. Thanks Gordon |

Get the landrover genuine heavy duty springs. they won't lift it much, however will make the ride alot better....i might have a set hangin' out if you want me to check... |

Look at Safari Gard. They have three very good options. I have a Stage 2 with all the trimmings and I love it. I use my D1 like you do. |

Hi Gordon I have the Rover tyme 2in lift with rear links. I put gr mtr 235/85. It does great off road and good on the highway. Tire pressure makes a big differance. I ran hard at 55psi and liked it, at 35psi the truck feels lite. 97 Disco Max |

Gordon, My truck gets used on road mostly with construction sites making up most of its off road use. I just installed a set of OME heavy duty passenger side springs all around with a set of Bilsteens. I got them from John at EE. They gave about 2" of lift and work very well. I'll be swaping to 245/75 tires soon so the extra lift is to accommodate the larger tires. Just my humble opinion as to an option. Steve |

I appreciate all the answers... I'll take some good notes from the posts and contact the various people to see what they can offer. Thanks to all Gordon |

you could lay out 4 similar sized patagonian toothfish and park so each wheel is on top of one.if you choose the correct size fish you should be able to obtain approx 1 inch. |

if you want a simple lift, greg davis makes spacers for DII's. i am not sure if he makes any DI stuff, but i installed some one inch spacers from him on my DII and i am very happy with them. they were a great price... mike |

Mike, thanks for the plug, but my spacers will only fit the rear of a DI. |

Gordon, this is called the CB or cheap bastard lift here on Dweb you can search and find as much on this as on winch debates move your current rear springs to the front replace your rear ones with LR heavy duty springs it will give you about 1 1/2 " and will improve and stiffen the ride and will not have bad effects on the driveline I did this with my D1 and I like it better then the LR HD's all around combine this with new bilstein schocks and you will be very happy with the results for not much cash both on and offroad there are some variants of this with different rear springs and such...a keyword search will cover all you ever want to know enjoy |
