I am getting a new Disco this month. Currently I have an HSE on order with ACE. I have been getting mixed reviews, money aside is ACE worth it or should I just go without?

Thanks

Not much or very light offroad use. Mostly around town some fire road use a lot of highway. Probably no suspension mods

Thanks

With all the road & hwy driving it sounds like you're going to do, you'll like the ACE feature. Makes the ride more comfortable...as well as handling.

Are there any extra potential service issues, and is there any truth to excess tyre wear?

just one more thing to break - i know there have been some service issues - my philosphy is less features less headaches/cost for repairs

ACE has a pump, resevoir(shared with PS), hydraulic plumbing to the valve block (mid ship) and active hydraulic actuators on each torsion bar (f&r). I believe, it's also tied in with the SLABS ECU.

I also appears that when offroading, ACE will "disconnect", providing more travel than a connected sway-bar D2.

Yeah, there's a lot of shit that can go wrong, but in general, that's life with a D2 anyway. What's one more subsystem? The good thing is that if ACE blows, it won't leave you stranded, it should just leave you like a standard passive sway bar truck.

At first, I thought we had wasted our money on ACE. Over the last year or so, I've really grown to appreciate the ACE system. IMO, it further enhances the Disco's ability to adeptly handle the endless variety of on-road/off-road conditions you might find.

Local dealer shies away from ACE more complexity without significant benefits

I just got a 99 Disco with ACE, I have the same concerns. Has anybody retro-fited an ACE Disco with conventional sway bars?
