My girlfreind just bought a 95 Discovery but doesn't have the stock changer, what will work with the stock radio?

Hi Chris---you need to purchase a land rover 6 cd changer-it is directly compatible with the truck electrical system-if you purchase an aftermarket cd changer you risk losing the radio steering controls---you can find one for about 300 usually in new condition--dont pay more---dealer will charge 650--rover connection 450---I have seen it on ebay for 300 or so----it really makes a huge difference to the system---the stock radio and cd are very respectable-----dont mess with the electrical system in the rover---you are asking for big hassle----good luck---Dan

Hang on, don't listen to that quite so fast..... I am almost 100% sure I have heard people talking about a compatable pioner changer, search the archives or wait for someone else to chime in that knows more.

I am really interested in knowing which pioneer is compatible. Is there a harness that will adapt any changer to the factory head unit?

the land rover disc changer is made by pioneer, so there has got to be a compatible one. mine came without the cd cartridge, and i didn't feel like paying 30-40 bucks for a cartridge, so i just changed the head unit out for an mp3 compatible unit and my changer is sitting unused under my seat. i assume it works, but i've never used it.

I had a similiar situation and the 6 disc changer that was installed through lr was a Kenwood KDC-C465FM. Just my .02

I searched high and low for a chenger on my 95 disco. i could not find any aftermarket player. it is made by pioneer, but the cables dont match anything. if you are willing to buy an aftermarket, cut the wires and see what wire does what, go for it. i ended up buying a used unit for $225. It was a junkyard (forgot the name) through mail order. Ebay usually has them from $300-$400.

I've got one that I was just about to list on ebay. First $300 takes it. Buyer pays shipping from N.Y.

Pioneer made two other changers that will work with the stock head. One feeds on the short side instead of on the long side (stock side) and the other is a twelve cd unit which looks exactly like the stock unit. Unfortunately, I misplaced the model numbers. A local audio shop in my area was able to tell me about this and even had the six changer in stock for $245 that last I looked.
