Excuse dirtybob...

I'll give it a shot since no one else is answering-refers to a process of strengthening the outer cage/bell of CV joint through heat treating to reduce hardness of metal and welding a ring on to bell to beef up. Name refers to Bobby Long at www.toyotasuperaxles.com. He mainly does toyota's and suzuki's.

"Marfielding" is a similiar process whereby a band of extra steel is welded on to outer cage to strengthen CV joint. Name refers to Marlin Czajkowski. (I may be off on this info-I'm no toyota expert)

Process is popular with the toyota boys on pre-85 front end birfields (cv joints). Later models used IFS. Process beefs up a weak area in toyotas. I don't know if Long is doing this on LR's.

My 2cents-I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong-

GregH
