I picked up my 98 Discovery today, and the radio, doesn't make a sound. Everything seems to work, it switches channels, it changes to the cdchanger, but there is absolutly no sound comming out. Any ideas??

how are you adjusting the volume? it's been a while since i had a stock radio, but i recall that if you adjust the radio volume trough the binacle controls, that sets the master volume.

That's an interesting statement - "radio works, but no sound". Kind of like, "My Rover works, it just won't move"

Does the radio have a separate amp? Could be the radio head is working but the amp is kaput / fuse is blown.

Sorry I mean the radio switches channels and switches between the radio and cd change, yet there is no sound. I tried to play around with the controls on the dash but still no luck.

So it sounds to me like the control head is working but that there is no power to the amp, or at least that is what I would check first.

Had this problem once. Check three things.

Pull out the radio, it slides right out and make sure all the stuff is hooked up to the back, next check the fuse in the amp which is under the dash mounted on the passenger side wall.

Then check the lower satellite fuses under the steering column panel. That's where I finally found my problem. A fuse under there was blown but it didn't say anything about it controlling the radio.

Good luck!
