I returned from a trip just before. On the way home, left-rear tire shredded (opposite side of driver seat) after passing some broken road at 100Km/Hr.
I got my disco Tdi 1994 model second hand. And I have used without chaning tires (I covered 75000Km after I got). The look is OK (as per the manual). But someone said tire should be changed every 2 years, while others to change every 30,000Km.
Is this the time to change whole?

2nd question.
The bolt securing the wheel is always not fit with the wrench. The wrench doesn't go in properly, so this afternoon, it was broken.
Anyone has same problem???
I think the bolt is covered with thin cover on top of 1 1/16 bolt head, that increased the size of the head to catch the wrench....

Thank,

Tire wear depends on use and care of tires, balancing and rotating. If you got 75,000 KM (45,000 miles) on a set of used tires, they were probably due for a change. You most likely need a new set of tires. Go by wear, not years. 30,000 KM (18,000 Miles) is too frequently to replace a set of tires. I rotate and balance my tires every 10,000 miles and usually expect to get 40,000 to 50,000 Miles on a new set of tires.

The wheel bolts have chrome caps that cover a steel bolt. Sometimes, the steel will rust under the cap causing it to not work properly. You will need to replace that bolt.
