I have a lifted Disco 1 with stock bumpers. Is the best way to jack with a high lift the chain bumper adapter? Is this safe? Also, after many mud runs and under hood cleanings my under hood insulaton fell out. Is there any real need to replace this? |

it might work, but it probably wont be safe and it will bend your bumper up, the only real place to use a high lift on a stock disco is the trailer hitch and even then that is pretty un-sturdy since you will be lifting both back wheels of the ground at once. |

I agree. I bought the chain adapter thinking that I could use it on my front and rear bumpers. Unfortunately, both stock bumpers are too thin to support the vehicle safely in this manner. A friend of mine tried jacking up the rear of his Disco using a Hi-Lift. It started sliding sideways as soon as both rear wheels started to lift off the ground. For infield repairs (like replacing a tire), I carry a 12"x12" piece of plywood and the stock LR bottle jack. It's not very sexy, but it works. Thanks, Mike B. |

The 12"x12" plywood is a good thing to carry. I carry an 18"x18" for sand and soft ground. However, a Hi-Lift shouldn't be used for tire changes anyway. It's a recovery tool. Just my 2 cents. |
