My red Service Engine light came on yesterday just before I hit 105k miles. I believe this is an "emissions reminder" and can be reset per the instructions on this site. Anything else to this? The 95 Disco ran fine otherwise. Jorge in Miami |

Jorge- I have a 97 and tried following the reset instructions on this site. I must have a different module, because I pulled it out and took it apart. I couldn't find the "reset" button, but it looks like it has a battery in it that once dead activates the service engine light. I don't know if that helps but following the instructions on this site may help with an older Disco. JG |

Hi Jorge, Follow the instructions on this site, except that for your 95 your box is under your passenger seat. |

I believe it is the red box under the passenger seat on '95's . Pull it out and stick a needle in the whole. Wiggle it around and it will reset itslef. |

The box is a brown color and normally has a sticker with "emission maintenance reminder" written on top. This is located either under the pass side seat or in the Rh kick panel. I have found that this module can be thrown away with no adverse results. With it removed the light in the cluster will still prove out on start-up. P.S. you are lucky you own a disco. On the defender it is behind the relay panel in the center of the dash and in the 4.0/4.6 RR it can only be turned off with rovers diag computer because it is intergrated in the instrument cluster |

Correct, this is normal operation of the lamp when it is not commanded on by the emissions reminder. It will light up for a few seconds along with the other lights and then go out. If you pull it out you will see what I'm talking about |
