Just wondering about my driveshafts i have a 98 disco and I was looking under there the other day and i have U-joints in the front and rear, i don't have the rotoflex. Did they start putting u-joints in 98's and on or what? Did someone do the upgrade. I bought it used 1 year ago. |

I have a 98 with ujoints. I think they started phasing out the rotoflex in the 96-97 timeframe. In my opinion, ujoints are more reliable than the rotoflex. Thanks, Mike B. |

I have a 2001 D2, would someone please explain the difference between U-joint and Rotoflex? How to tell the difference visually? Thanks for the help... John F |

I've got Ujoints then. No zerks, so I assume they won't last forever, eh? How does a Rotoflex work, in 25 words or less? John F |

roto works the same as a u joint, but i believe there were intended to not transmit vibes. kinda funny. i am sure they work well on stock trucks (non lifted) and do what they are intended to do. but once lifted you change the angle of the shaft and therefore upset the little roto. they also don't like driving around in low range. really tears them up nicely. |

I believe the rotoflex were phased out after the 96 Disco I. I replaced mine after 70,000 (and 15 off-road trips in low) as it was developing large cracks and I heard stories of failure on the trail. |

Would a 2001 Disco 2 have U-Joints? I just had a U-joint go or thats what I thought. Now on my truck I have U joints. Which are better? |

From what I have seen, all the series 2 have Roto-flex and not all of the 1998 have u-joints. All of the Series 1, 1999 have U-joints. I can only speak of what I have seen. Hope this helps. |
