While attaching some stuff to my rack I noticed some rust around the Alpine Windows. Its below the rubber and is only a few spots. I want to jump on this right away...so does anyone know any fixes for this?

How old is the truck? Is it still under the corrosion warranty?

Its a 97 and I have no idea if it is under the corrosion warranty.

You can try a product called Extend. Supposed to neutralize the corrosion. We used it in the military quite a bit shipboard.

This is not uncommon in Series 1 Discos. Mine is a '95 and is just showing this now. I saw a bulletin post somewhere which proposed a diy solution wedging apart the gasket either side of the affected area and applying some rust converter. I reckon that taking the whole alpine window out and treating the rust is the safer option.

Your vehicle should still fall under the corrosion warranty. Call your dealer and ask about the corrosion warrany details. After he explains this THEN I would tell them about your problem. They may state that the warranty is void due to lack of corrosion inspections by the dealer but this is a VERY common problem on the Disco I. The purpose of the inspections was to catch the rust before it got out of control and it sounds like that is what you did. If it is still in warranty and the dealer wants to deny the coverage call LRNA and pester owner care until they take care of it. It may take some time but they will eventually cover it.
