Can you share your wiring diagram for your radio/amp? Email me or post here. Many thanks. ps.. you comment about not all the pins being allocated (8 or 10 pin and only 7 or 9 were being used.. forgot what you said) .. LR has been know to share ground wires or not carry the speaker grounds back to the harness and just grounding at the chassis where the speaker is mounted... |

would be greatly appreciated.. found someone who posted wiring schematics for 96-97 head unit to amp but the wire colors are off a bit... job will be a pain in the ass if I had to figure out my 18 pin connecter on the amp. thanks again. Ed |

ok, i can't find the schematic i drew up; it must be at my house. i do have the color codes for the connector (speakers, anyway) on the amp. maybe that'll get you for now until i can get home this afternoon and re-post. unfortunately, i don't have the pos's and neg's marked here, but they are in my notes at the house. i'll try really hard to remember to get that to you when i get out of here, but the smell of antifreeze on the drive back may stone me before i get there. ;) black/yellow and black/orange go to the left rear; black/pink and black/red go to the left front; black/white and black/brown go to the right front; and black/green and black/blue go to the right rear. i simply disconnected the connector and snipped these wires before splicing and re-routing back up to the head unit under the carpet. didn't take long, although rover doesn't leave much room for negotiation behind the dash. pull your glovebox and underpanel. i left the other wires at the amp unplugged and unused. i'm totally junking the subs and amp and putting my own in from scratch. there's also a good harnass diagram for your old head unit at http://www.carstereohelp.com/wireharnassLandRover1.htm hardwire these wires to your new head unit for power, etc. all you should be missing now are the pos and neg i.d.'s for the wires at the amp. hope this helps. |

that's a great help thanks... Now I just need to figure out the other side of the harness.. there are 10 more unidentified wires.. Red, Green, Yellow, Blue (guessing these are the leads (+) from the deck & green (power for amp), black (- for front), black (- for back), black, red, & yellow w/ purple. thanks again. |

ed: found the final codes in the archive for pos's and neg's. try this: On the plug under the dash, connect the following together to bypass the amp: Right Front Speakers (+) = Green to Red/Black Right Front Speakers (-) = Pink and Black Left Front Speakers (+) = Yellow to Brown/Black Left Front Speakers (-) = White/Black Right Rear Speaker (+) = Red to Blue/Black Right Rear Speaker (-) = Green/Black Left Rear Speaker (+) = Blue to Yellow/Black Left Rear Speaker (-) = Orange/Black |
