Hi, My 97 disco has occasinally started idling faster than normal. (Normal is around 600-700rpm.) The new idle speed can be up to 1100-1200, even if the engine is warm. With all that low end torque, it can make careful parking tough. Then, the rpm can sometimes just go back to normal, and then, on other occasions, it can run as normal rom the start. There seems to be no pattern in it. I checked the throttle cable under the hood. There doesn't seem to be any play in it so was curious if anyone else has experienced this and if there was some other potential fault. Thanks. Simon |

Possibly stepper motor (IAC motor) - try cleaning it first. Bill |

Clean stepper motor, throttle plate and throttle bore with carb cleaner. Check all hoses connected to the intake manifold for possible leaks. Spray choke cleaner on suspected intake gaskets to check for vacuum leaks. Set engine base idle speed to 550rpms. Randall |
