I know this has been discussed, but I finally got a few pics of my mag light mounting spots with a borrowed camera, so I thought I would share:

What? Only a four cell maglite Greg? Isn't that a little short?

Sorry, I had to. Just being a

I'd love to mount mine on the back door but I'm worried it'd go flying in an accident. My own skull isn't worth protecting but with my son in the back I don't know that it's worth the risk.

Looks good though.

Actually Todd, I think it is a 3 cell D in the back and a 2 cell C in the front. :)

I have had no problems with the flash light coming loose, but I guess I've never hit a block wall at 60 mph either. What about putting up a dog guard to keep everything in the back? I've considered it for the same reason.

Greg, that flashlight and extinguisher in the back will decapitate you in a rear end collision. You'd be really surprised at what velocity things can fly at by a mere 30mph rear end accident. A man (surveyer) where I used to work drove a Ford Bronco with everything secured in the back really well, but a couple things broke free in an accident he had and really f'd him up. They say he bled like crazy and had to spend over a week in the hospital.

Wouldn't that hold true for anything in the rear of the truck?

I can say from personal experience that things go all over the truck when you get hit from behind. I was rear-ended in traffic last week and all the stuff that I keep in the overhead bins above the sun visors ended up in the back seat, on the floor. Maps that I had in the overhead pouches in the rear seat ended up in the cargo area. I'm glad it was all light stuff or I could have been in a world of hurt. The truck held up great though. A lot better than the Cadillac that hit me...

I have mine where Greg has his. I might change it to avoid becoming the Headless Roverman

Neal,

That is the antenna base for my Radio Shack FRS radio. It is magnetic and designed to mount on the outside of the vehicle. I attached a metal plate to the top of a bin cover and mounted it inside. It retails for about $80 but you can usually find it on sale for around $30. It's supposed to have a longer range than the handheld units. Here is a pic of the mic:
