Ok, I'm going to breakdown and ask if anyone knows how to wire up an aftermarket CD Changer (FM Modulated). I am going to get a nice new head unit after the holidays, but I have a Sony 10 disk changer that I would like to wire up, so I can listen to CDs on my trip to Canada this Christmas. Under the passenger seat, there are two wires with a connector (one is purple, one is black) On the modulator, there are three wires, one red, one black, and one yellow. I can see how the antenna connects etc, but not sure which wires will power-up the CD Changer. Thanks in advance for your help. Oh, I have a 96 D1 |

red goes to switched power source yellow goes to constant power and black goes to ground. the rf modulator goes behind the radio so you should get the wires there. I don't rember the color codes but do a search as they are on this site |

If some kind soul would email me a diagram showing which wires are the Constant power source, the 12v switched power source, and the ground wire, I will be eternally grateful. The Haynes manual is worthless (at least the wiring diagrams). Thanks--And by the way,,Happy Turkey Day! |

Aaron, Easiest thing to do is to tap the constant and the 12v switched @ the fuse panel. Off the top of my head I can't remember what's constant, but you can use a meter to test (or you can just run a fused link direct to the pos batt terminal). For switched, tap either the radio fuse or the cig lighter fuse. For ground, just drill a hole in the floor (metal!!) close to where you're putting the changer and screw your ground wire into that hole. You can get fuse taps and ground screws w/ star washers @ radio shack. -Tommy |
