I'm have to fit a Nokia hands free kit into my 98 Disco. Got the wiring diagram, and I need to locate things like mic, speaker, control box, and the hardest part - the cradle. Where have you guys 'n' gals mounted the cradle to in your Disco's? If I put it in the standard place (opposite side of center console), it's almost out of reach to pick up calls etc. Help/Advice/Pics etc. all appreciated Horness |

My handsfree is a CCM from best buy, its all one piece and plugs into the lighter hole. I routed the mike wire behind the console and to the door pilar where I clipped the mike to the headliner. it works good there. So far it works good and didn't leave me with a rats nest of wires. Happy Thanksgiving Gordon |

Gordon, my nokia kit was similar, in that there was a football sized speaker thing that plugged into the cig plug. From that, a curly wire ran out to the phone for power, and it had a small branch at the end that went to the side headphone jack. Also, there was a separate wire that ran out for a microphone for separate placement. I took mine apart and mounted the electronics into a project box from Radio Shack. Then ran hard power wiring to the fuse box, the phone wire runs up and out the side of the binacle. The phone craddle is mounted to the right of the binacle. The speaker wiring now runs to a Radio Shack CB External speaker on the left side of the binacle, and the mic wiring runs up the left A pillar and the mic is mounted just in front and to the left of the drivers visors mounting point. Thats a mouthful to say, but basically I took the cig. plug kit and turned it into a fully hands free kit. Works great, and only cost about $10 to convert. There is a picture where some of the parts are visible in a thread on here regarding roof rack lights. I took pics of my lighting buttons, and the phone parts are visable. gp |

It looks pretty good, what I can see... Mine is self contained, phone mount, speaker, plug woth separate mike. It is plugged in on the lighter plug and unfortunately is in the way on the cup holder. G |

My cradle I mounted to the center of the plastic piece the sunroof controls are on above your head. I have it turned and aimed to the driver and the cables run through the hole in that piece. Its mount is just like the mount Greg P has for his GPS. I mounted it there because I has communications equip and GPS on the dash and there is not a good place on the front dash with the controls. I also have a CDL lever where shifters are so that was a bad place. All in all, I like the location alot. I have to look up instead of down to see the phone but I feel thats safer. |

Greg - I have never seen that many light switches in one car - good work! |

I just installed a hands-free for my 3360 nokia. I mounted the cradle to the console in front of the cig lighter. I ran the mic up the drivers side pillar near the windscreen. I ran the speaker underneath the drivers seat. I mounted the black box or slid the black box under the fuse box flap under the steering wheel. It is slid between the styrofoam insert and the rest of the dash to the right of the fuse box. This allowed for easy wiring. Some may dislike the cradle location but it allows for me to work the phone while my hand is on the shifter. I've mastered the "touch and feel" approach to the phone so I can concentrate on driving. Hope this helps. |

i installed a samsung hf kit for my sch8500. i put the electronics in the glove box. bought a splitter for the cig. lighter and cut off one of the plugs and hard wired it to the electronics. for the ground i removed the passenger kick panel found a bolt for the grounding wire. then i mounted the phone's stand on the dash and put the speaker by the diff lock (it's just loose, but doesn't rattle and you can't really see it anyway). i've used this setup for over two years now and am very happy w/ it--never has failed--great sound quality! |

Gordon, Thats why I took my unit apart and re-engineered it into a project box from radio shack. I wanted it to be a permanant install, but at the time there was not a permanant kit for my model phone, a nokia 8260. The cig/speaker deal just took up too much space. Scott, Thanks. I feel like I could use a few more lights and switches, although I'm not sure what else I need to light up. |

Tried hanging the holder of my water proof Eriksson on the inside of the roof, but did not hold, so after going back to the Eriksson dealer, I got a hip hanger for that phone (R310s), and now it hangs down, along with that days´ bananas...hehehe... |

I've got the same Nokia kit as Jack, ran the mic cable up the driver's side pillar and double-sided the mic to the top of the removable plastic cover. The square mounting bracket is the same size as the ash tray - I screwed it on there, placing four neoprene washers between the two for vibration control. I've got the same obnoxious football speaker sitting up near the difflock. e |
