Clean the mud off the tran*mission and all will be fine. The linkages are external (shifter and kick down). I'm guessing, but I say the kickdown cable is clogged with mud and won't allow it to go into 4th. Sort of a permanent passing mode. |

Now that's the kind of advice I wanted to here. Last thing I wanted to do is take it to the dealer so they could tell me that I need a new transmission and maybe a rebiult engine so might as well just buy a new truck. I"ll head right over to the pressure washer. Thanks a million. Dan |

Okay guys, still need your help. Got under the truck just now. I found the shifter linkage and cleaned that off, no change. Where is the kickdown cable? Thanks for your help. Dan. |

Anon, thanks! You were right. I pulled up on the gas pedal really hard a few times, headed to the pressure washer, problem solved. I would have never thought of dirt on the linkage. I love easy fixes. Thanks discoweb! Dan. |
