Hooking up a homelink in a disco 1

The connector in the truck has 3 wires, but the homelink has only 2 wires and the connectors are different. Does anyone know if this is still compatible. Also, I have no idea how to program the homelink to work with my garage door opener. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks
