What do the denominations mean? on my cousins '00 it has nothing aside from the V8 emblem...I've seen the SD, XD, and SE...what do they mean? And what does it mean that my cousins has none?

Some years had none. 94,95 very early 96s had no badges. 96 you could get an SD SE SE7 and occasionally an SD7 (usually SD7s had no badge or just an SD badge in 96). 97 continued the same but the XD came in and at the end of the year an LSE. 98 there was an LE and an LSE and a 50th aniversary model, 99 series I discos were all SDs but the 99 series IIs had no badge as did the 00s. In 01 you could get an SD LE or SE all with the option of 7 seats, 02 dropped the LE but got some specials like the westminster and the kalahari, for 03 you now have the S SE and HSE all with the posibility of a 7 at the end.

Yep, a "7" at the end indicates a seven seater.

FWIW, in South Africa we currently get 3 models of the V8, same for TD5: bottom spec GS, mid-spec XS, and top spec ES.

Back in the ealy to mid 90's "i" for injection was really something. Rover dropped it, I assume, for the reason that if it were put on now it would look as though they were boasting about technology that has been around for a long time. Now it is assumed that evey car built is fuel/diesel injected (diesel of course always being injected! - but mechanically in the early days).

Just some thought.

Scott

PS - I like the "i" post before mine!

Mine is a 98 LE 50th Anniversary with the "i"... Guess that makes it "Loaded" :)

Thats odd, I bought my SD D2 in 2000 and it's known as a 2000 not a 2001. Hmmmm?????

the "SD" came out late in 2000. Prior to that there were 2000 cloth Series IIs that were known as "cloth series IIs." There are very few of the cloth series IIs running around, but to some they are desireable as they have around 2" more leg room.

What gives it the extra legroom?

Right you are Gil. Would have never bought my 2000 DSII if not for the cloth/manual seats...being 6'6"

My Discovery is rather unique because it also has dual factory sunroofs and the cold weather package.
