HAs anyone bought a pair of the DAP Rock Sliders for a Disco?? I have been toying with the idea of buying a set and then I came across them ans at $230. They seem like a good deal. Any feedback would be great.

This has been discussed in detail before, as with most DAP products.

Someone did actually buy them though, and I believe they were rated unsatisfactory.

<------ Try a search and Im sure you will find that thread.

Clif-
What is your opinion of DAP products? I have considered a few myself. If I did it correctly, my "search" did not show much information available on this site.

First off, I have not directly purchased anything from DAP. My opinions are based entirely on others from this board. So dismiss them as your wish.

No one seems to have had any problems w/ customer service there. Clearly their prices are very good on almost all of their products. This probably their biggest selling point. I would not hesitate to get their dog-guard, lamp guards, brush guard, etc. Althought I have seen some complaints as to their powdercoating. As I said previously, I dont think that their sliders got a satisfactory review. Others have been very happy with their concealed winch mount, if that is what you desire to have. I have heard very positive things regarding parts.

I think that this is pretty much all I can write without personal experience, and as I said at the top... disregard this as you wish.

Hope that helps,
Clif

Guys, I have seen the galvanized DAP sliders and the best word I can think of for them is STOUT. I have not see the black, but I believe the are nylon coated, which seems as if it would be fairly tough.

Also, I had some concern about whether the sliders had the disco curve in them and, in fact, they do. If I was looking for new sliders, I would give them a shot.

Thats exactly how they sell them Marc. Anyone can make a straight piece of steel look "stout" what matters is the mounts and from what I hear the DAP/Bearmach system of attaching them solely to the frame provides for a lot of leverage enabling them to come up and smash you body panels.

I have the Bearmach galvinized sliders, and they mount to the body mounts, and to the frame outriggers for the body mounts. So this would prevent most leverage. I haven't tried them out on anything bad, I did jack them up with a High Lift, and I had no problem. I got them for $180, so for a poor high school student, that wasn't to bad. I just couldn't swing $500+ for some RTE's.

Thats cool, they told me they didn't attach to the body but that representative was probably just regurgitating the product description that only mentions they attach to the frame.

You still in high school?? I thought you were talking a while back about trying to find a college. Maybe it wasn't that long ago or something, I can't remember stuff like that to save my life.

I appreciate your cander regarding your personal experience. Their prices do seem good and I am within driving distance to check on the quailty pre-purchase. I had phoned them last summer with some questions but was a bit put off by their attitude but hey we all have bad days. thanks.

I had a set and their reduced clearance caused me to dent my front quarter. They do not serve the true purpose of a slider. Please do a search for threads where I elaberate further.
