Brake light comes on and stays on.(95 Disco) My E-brake is off. Will this cause any harm and what may be causing it? Thanks, Glen

Yeah, take your foot off the brake pedal - only joking! Probably the brake light switch, mine does the same thing, then it doesn't for a while, then it does etc. One day I'll replace the switch. Or do you mean the warning light?

Ok, thanks Steve, I'll look into the brake light switch.

more likely your brake fluid resevoir has become low and the light is telling you to add fluid.

and why is it low?

because your brake pads are getting thin!

pop the hood check the level

Wow, Ive never heard of a loss of brake fluid pressure due to pads getting low...hmmmm....I'd agree with Bruce, top off your brake fluid....

no one said the pressure was less, but since there is less pad it takes more fluid to push it in resulting in low fluid reading in the resevior.

yes when the pads are thinner it takes more volume behind the caliper pistons to keep themclose to the rotor. So that is true, and that in trun makes the brake light come on. i think the master cylinder resevoir also has a slight leakage issue all the time. anyhow glad it worked. it did happen to me, but i had bigger problems, not as big as my favourite mechanic?LR guidance has retired and moved back to the mother country... :(
