hi all.... to make a long story short... i dropped off my 95 Disco at the shop to have the wiper motor replaced. BUT there were some "part out of stock issues" so i had to have a family member pick up my truck when it was finished, as i have been on vacation for 3 weeks. well, during the course of the wiper motor swap they must have needed to disconnect the battery, cause the radio wont work (CODE is on the display) so i grabbed my handy dandy LR owners manual and pulled out the little card that has my "radio code". well i followed the very simple instructions. 1. turn ignition on 2. turn on radio 3. enter the code below when you see CODE displayed 4. if the radio beeps, re enter the code well i did exactly that... and viola!!! the radio just beeps after the last digit is inputed and CODE still shows up in the display and i cant use my DAMN radio.... i even tried disconnecting the batterey a few times to see if that would help?!?!? does anyone know of a way to circumvent/reset the code???? or has anyone elses radio "forgotten the CODE" and how did you get it to work again. im really not looking forward to taking the beast back to a LR dealer as this seemingly simple winshield wiper motor replacement set me back $800 bucks!!!!!! needless to say the wife wasnt thrilled.... thx |

Scuba: Leave the key on for an hour and see if it will allow you to enter the code then. I don't give it much hope as I finally gave up and replaced the head unit, but this ishow the manual says to handle it if it doesn't work the first time through. Paul |

Mine did that too, I had to leave the key in it for an hour. |

i had the same problem, i unhooked the battery for about 20 minutes, then tried it again and it worked like a charm. The first time I punched it in several times and nothing, called LR and the tech said to unhooked the ground for ten minutes and try again, so I waited 20. |

hey guys! thxs for the replies... question when you say "leave the key in it for an hour" do you mean "leave it in the garage with the key in the ignition in the "on" position (engine not running) or after running the truck for an hour (driving around), try it again. also, do you have the radio ON or OFF for that entire time??? i did disconnect the negative battery lead... albeit for less then a minute though. and that did nothing... so i will try both methods tonight... tonight when i drive home (about an 1hr 15 min commute) ill try entering the code when i get home... (if i dont fall alseep from the BORING/quite drive) if that doesnt work ill try disconnecting the negative lead for at least 20 min. thx |

they are referring to leaving the key in the one position sitting in the driveway with the truck off or at least that's what I was told when I had trouble with mine. I opted for the quicker 20 minute disconnect method and it worked. |

scubaman I just went through this. Turn the key to the accessory position for one hour with the radio on. This will reset the lockout bit of the radio. You then get three tries to enter the code. After the second entry without success, 'code' will flash to let you know that you've only got one more chance before it 'locks out' again. With mine I called a dealer to get the code. The code they gave me was incorrect. I called a second time to verify both the VIN I gave them and the code they gave me. Same code, no joy. I contacted LRNA and got the correct code. I don't know why the dealer had the incorrect code but they did. Perhaps the radio had been replaced(I purchased used) and the dealer is using an old db. Ken |

If the radio is not the original, eg replaced by dealer, then the radio code will not be valid for the unit you have...... Suggest you call the dealer to check |
