I saw that my clock bulb was out the other day so I went and got a new light. Third one in just over a year. Upon putting the new one in and turning on the lights I realized that it still doesn't work. I saw a thin piece of something with what appears to be some type of electrical connection.

Anyways, I also noticed that my cruise control won't work, which is another question that I need help with.

Are these two things connected?

Please help.

no, but the master switch for the cruise and the clock are very close together so something might have gotten fried and melted some wires back there or something causing both the go out, I would rip it all apart and have a look.

I should add that the clock still works, it just doesn't not illuminate when the lights are on.

If that helps any.

If cruise switch lights up the two are not related.

That little thin traslucent tab with copper film is your wiring harness for the lamp. If it's messed up your in trouble. Try a salvage yard. Otherwise check continuity with multimeter and reassemble.

If cruise switch light works check your vacuum hoses. There are several feet and rot at connections and fittings.

Hey Joe!

What would be the problem if the translucent tab you are referring to is messed up? Please explain. Thanks!

Greg, the little translucent strip is the wiring harness for the clock night lite only. If the tab was cut or torn, or the copper ribbon glued to the strip was torn you can't get back your clock lamp. It will still work and be visible day though.

I'm lousey with electrical but some of these guys that can micro solder could possibly put the strip back. The strip will flip up a little when the lamp is out- that's not a probelm It's just if the metallic ribbons are not making connetion you'll be out of luck (or live without a night clock).

I've ordered a lamp for mine and want the lamp in the little socket- like I say I'm not a good solderer.

Regards,
