Anyone replaced the key switch? Mine refuses to turn sometimes and I end up pulling the key out, flipping it and trying again. Enough times and the key will then move. Where can I get a new switch and how much are these? Thanks, neil |

are sure it's not the key that is worn? are you talking about the ignition or door locks. try lubbing it with some silicon or graphine. it worked miracles on my RR classic last year. rd |

I would definitely use the graphite powder.. any lock shop will have it for about $2. It will work wonders. |

well I would also consider checking the lock to see if it has become unseated. there is a plastic ring that covers the lock and on the back side there is a brass pin that holds the lock cylinder in place. on early disco's that had the air-bag lead abrasion issue fixed at the dealer the pin may be missing. the "Fix" at the dealer included removing the pin to remove the lock but in lots of cases they are not replaced because they are a bitch to get back in. when they are not replaced(such as mine wasent) the cylnder just has the black ring to hold it in place, then when a key goes in the lock and key are not lined up and it wont turn. if this is the case you will need to push the cylinder all the way down into the bore then make sure the black plastic ring is all the way in place. |

I will try my other key and the lube. The switch does not appear to be loose in any way. I never use the key in the door locks, my key bob still works! Thanks, neil |

I had to replace my ignition switch assembly about 5 months back. It was beyond the point of lube freeing it up. It was not a fun task but I did do it myself (about 4 hours if I remember correctly). Try the graphite powder first, as lube worked for me for a few months. Anyhow, new ignition switch is around 350-400. I got mine used from www.roverlandparts.com for $100 shipping included.. Good luck |
