One of the main bars that runs over over the middle section of the vehicle on my factory Disco roof rack is actually splitting from the underside, causing it to rust and its going all over the vehicle. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to (semi)-permanently fix this. I don't know if possibly welding a new part into that spot would be a possible solution or what. Replacing the rack is not a solution that I am considering. Any ideas? Thanks. |

offrovn, I don't have the pictures scanned, but my Dad welded a split on my Prior D1 rack. He used a gas welder and a welding rod, to keep the heat down. Any welding professional should be able to weld the spot up for you. Then just sand, prime and paint. Or you can repowdercoat. |

Is it the two bars that run parallel to the vehicle or the ones that can be detached that run perpendicular? If it can be taken off, then remove it, in the long run it'll save $$ than having to re-paint or re-place other things. |

oops. I read that to be an adventure type tubular steel rack. Disregard my prior post. gp |

This is an adventure style full factory roof rack that came standard on my XD. It is actually a section that runs the length of the vehicle in the middle section. The mounts need to be repainted because of some surface rust but nothing like the split that has created some problems on one of the actual bars itself. Thanks for any suggestions. |

Okay, then that is what I was talking about. It should be something that can be welded back together. Mine was fixed without a problem. gp |
