I am looking at switching from 265/75 to 285/35's. I've trimmed a bit with the present tires and haven't had any problems. They are getting worn now. Here's the question: Should I be more concerned with tread pattern, ie. A/T's, M'T's, etc., or the size? Or both. Your input is appreciated. Greg |

Well, do you typically run out of grip or clearance when you are offroad? If you end up spinning tires without being hung up on your diff or axle, I would look for tire tread, etc. If you are constantly knocking the underbody, particularly the diffs, I would be concerned about tire diameter. Of course, they are both important, but I would focus on the one that is giving you the most trouble. |

I haven't had any problems thus far with the terrain I've been on. But I have also stayed fairly conservative as to not damage the vehicle too bad. Nothing is negative about the size of tire I have now, don't get me wrong. I"m just looking at the pluses and minuses, if any, of going with a slightly larger tire size. Other than that extra height to see inside the girls sunroof sitting next to me at the light. |
