Anyone knows what is a good replacement for a '97 Disco muffler and the cost? Will one of the regular muffler shops carry one that fits, or should I buy the original. I am looking for one that is quiet as possible. Thanks. Lee |

Are you talking about teh muffler or the resonator (the thing at the very end, right under the bumper). You don't really need the resonator if that is what you are talking about. |

If it is the resonator you're talking about, you really don't need it. Went to dinner one night, pulled up to the valet, got out and my friend said "Hey, what's with your muffler?" There it was, dangling by the last remains of the rusty pipe. I kicked it off, tossed it in the back and Trevor Griffiths welded on a straight pipe in it's place. Cheap, easy, sounds a little better and looks cool. I'm thinking about adding an "Type R" badge for an additional 100hp. |

I have a 97 disco, and i missed the sound of a healthy v-8,so i had the muffler and resonator removed and replaced with a 40 series flowmaster it is chambered where as the magnaflow is straight through. cost here in florida was $150.00.the tone is very aggressive/loud at high rpm or under a load. but at cruising speed you can barely tell its there.some one posted a sound bite of the flowmaster muffler but it does not convey the true dynamics/tone of the sound in the cab. make no mistake, it is much louder in the cab than stock. but I like the tone/sound. must be the redneck in me! |

I have a flowmaster on my Discovery. It is loud. At 2000-2300 rpms there is some serious resonance in the truck. I like it, but not everybody does. At highway speed in 4th gear you cant even hear your passenger talk (which is sometimes nice.. ) Pop in into 5th and you would think it was a stock muffler. On my Classic Range I have a borla. I hate it. It makes it sound like a dumptruck at all speeds. The Borla sounds like a constant "moan" where as the Flowmaster is more of a sharp throaty V8 rumble at certain rpms. fwiw.. |

50 series = 3 chamber 40 series = 2 chamber that was a standard flowmaster. i have the new Delta-Flow 40 series and it is quiter than my 50 series was. so a 50 series Delta should be pretty nice. |
