Looking for new or used Fr. Driveshaft from D2 to fit to D1.

One recently went on eBay for around $50. Keep checking there.

will a front ds from a D2 fit a D1? Is it any better than a D1 shaft?

They are not directly interchangeable, requiring a new output flange from a DII. Is it any better-yes and no. The stock universals are not greaseable and they fail unexpectedly without warning, damaging all manner of under side componentry $$$, but they have the hookes joint that is far more forgiving of driveline deviations than the original single universal joint setup.

My Disco I eats front driveshafts in just a few thousand miles.
